Fabric made from natural fibres of animal origin obtained from the silk threads that form the silkworm cocoons.

The process of extracting the thread is very elaborate. It is a complex process that is still carried out by hand today to produce the highest quality yarns.

For this reason, the higher the quality of the fabric, the higher its price. During their metamorphosis, the silkworms enclose themselves in a cocoon made of silk thread, consisting of very fine and strong monofilament.

Before the process is complete, this cocoon is boiled in water and the thread with which the silkworm has ‘woven’ the cocoon is drawn out one by one. The purer the silk, the longer this thread is and the fewer knots are needed during spinning.
