DETAILS
The Braemar Double-Faced Wool Tweed is a warm and elegant winter fabric, featuring a classic check pattern in shades of chocolate brown, camel, taupe and grey. Its understated, natural colour palette offers a timeless, British-inspired style, perfect for making up warm garments and seasonal accessories.
With a width of 150 cm and a composition of 70% wool and 30% polyester, it combines the warmth and character of wool with the durability and stability provided by polyester, resulting in a fabric particularly well-suited to autumn and winter garments.
Its main feature is its double-faced fabric: one side has the characteristic look of wool tweed, whilst the other offers a pleasant short pile finish. Both sides feature the same checks, allowing both surfaces to be utilised within the same garment.
This feature allows for the creation of interesting textural contrasts, using the short pile side to highlight collars, lapels, cuffs, pockets or facing details. It is also ideal for garments where part of the interior is visible, thus making the most of the fabric’s reversible nature.
Ideas for use: coats, jackets, capes, waistcoats, overshirts, winter skirts, bags, hats, berets and other fashion accessories.
Sewing tip: before cutting, decide which side will be the main side and ensure all pieces are facing the same direction, especially when using the short pile finish. As this is a checked fabric, it is advisable to allow for extra fabric to match the pattern correctly on the sides, sleeves, pockets and other visible areas.
