DETAILS
The Sherwood checked wool loden fabric is a warm, classic and timeless fabric, featuring an elegant check pattern in shades of brown, camel and grey, with subtle beige lines. A understated and warm combination, with a distinct British influence, perfect for making up autumn and winter garments with a distinguished style that is easy to coordinate.
With a width of 150 cm and a composition of 70% wool and 30% polyester, it combines the warmth and characteristic look of wool with the durability and stability provided by polyester. It is a relatively fine winter fabric compared to other thick wools and tweeds, ideal for creating warm garments without adding excessive bulk.
The fabric features two sides with different finishes: one offers a softer, more pleasant surface, whilst the reverse side shows the fabric’s structure and weave more clearly. This feature allows you to choose the main side according to the desired finish and even make use of both surfaces to create original details in the garment.
Its classic check in shades of brown, camel and grey is particularly versatile for country-style, urban or tailored-inspired garments. A combination of neutral colours that works particularly well in lightweight coats, jackets, overshirts, capes, waistcoats and winter skirts.
Suggested uses: coats, jackets, overshirts, capes, waistcoats, winter skirts, dresses, bags, hats and other fashion accessories.
Sewing tip: before cutting, decide which side of the fabric you’ll use as the outer side and ensure all pieces are facing the same direction. To achieve a professional finish, allow a small extra margin of fabric to match the checks on the sides, sleeves, pockets and other visible areas. Always carry out a test ironing first and preferably use a protective cloth to preserve the finish of the wool.
