Navy Blue Cherry-Printed Cotton Needlecord

The navy blue cherry-print micro-needlecord cotton fabric is a fine needlecord made from 100% cotton that combines a soft, velvety feel with a playful print of small cherries. Against the navy blue background, pairs of red and white cherries with delicate light blue stems are scattered across the fabric, creating a cheerful, original and particularly lovely design for children's prints.

This needlecord features a very fine 21-wale rib knit, meaning 21 fine corduroy lines per inch, which gives it a delicate texture that is much more subtle than traditional corduroy. Its surface is soft and pleasant to the touch, whilst its lightweight structure makes it suitable for garments where we want the velvety look of corduroy without adding too much thickness.

With a composition of 100% cotton, a weight of 145 gsm and a width of 140 cm, it is a lightweight and versatile fabric, particularly suitable for making up children’s and mid-season garments.

Ideas for use: children’s dresses, rompers, dungarees, trousers, skirts, blouses, shirts, pinafores, baby clothes and small sewing accessories.

The cherries on navy blue print goes particularly well with plain fabrics in red, white, unbleached, navy blue or light blue. You can add lace trims, piping, ruffles, bows or decorative buttons to create cheerful and fully personalised children’s garments.

Sewing tip: as this is a 100% cotton fabric, we recommend washing the fabric before cutting to allow for the cotton’s natural shrinkage. As this is needlecord, lay out all the sewing pattern pieces ensuring they follow the same direction of the rib knit and pile to maintain a uniform finish and colour tone throughout the garment.
