Stretch Corduroy, Washed Effect, Burgundy

The Burgundy Washed-Effect Stretch Corduroy is a full-bodied, soft and durable corduroy, perfect for making up comfortable garments with character. Its burgundy colour – a deep, dark red inspired by wine – is combined with the washed effect to achieve a slightly distressed, contemporary finish with an attractive vintage feel.

This corduroy stands out for its characteristic ribbed texture and soft, velvety surface, which adds depth and dimension to the fabric. Its weight (gsm) of 282 gives it a medium-to-heavy weight, ideal for garments that require some structure without being overly stiff.

Its composition of 98% cotton and 2% elastane combines the pleasant feel of cotton with lightweight stretch across the fabric width, providing greater comfort and freedom of movement. It has a fabric width of 140 cm and is an excellent choice for both adult and children’s clothing.

Suggested uses: corduroy trousers, skirts, jackets, overshirts, dungarees, dresses, waistcoats and children’s garments.

The burgundy with a washed effect pairs particularly well with unbleached, sand, beige, camel, grey, dusty pink, olive green, navy blue or denim. An elegant and highly versatile shade for creating garments with a casual, urban, classic or vintage feel.

Sewing tip: we recommend washing the fabric before cutting to allow for the cotton’s natural shrinkage. As this is a corduroy with a nap and rib knit, lay all sewing pattern pieces in the same direction to maintain a uniform look and shade. Iron preferably on the reverse side and without applying too much pressure to avoid flattening the corduroy’s raised texture.
